Who are we?
The Konnection is an organization dedicated to helping youth feel more connected to school and supported in their personal growth. By offering after-school mentoring programs, school-wide competitions, and essential resources, we work to improve student academic performance and attendance. We also provide travel opportunities to expose students to new experiences beyond their local area. Our mission is to inspire youth to broaden their horizons through positive relationships and healthy connections. We strive to foster a strong sense of belonging, helping students stay engaged and excited about their education.

reason: end chronic absenteeism.
As chronic absenteeism grows more common, cities like Detroit are facing some of the highest rates. When students consistently miss school, it's strongly connected to lower academic success. Education is a vital tool that creates opportunities for kids, giving them the power to break free from the cycles of poverty, imprisonment, drug abuse, and many other factors that can impact their future.

Build impactful
programs
The Konnection's programs have successfully motivated youth to attend school and improve their academic performance, as evidenced by 100% positive feedback from participating youth and teachers, and 75% increase in attendance and performance among Konnection Klub participants annually. The Konnection Kloset has also provided basic needs resources for 260 youth during the 2023-24 academic school year. Over 500 volunteers have also been engaged since August 2022.
Did you join us for the 2024 Back to School Klap In?
The Konnection hosted our Annual Konnection Back-to-School Klap-In event at Durfee Elementary-Middle School! We celebrated the very first day of school as students were welcomed for the 2024-25 school year. Together, we clapped, cheered, and danced with students as they made their way into the school building. It was a fantastic way to get our kiddos off to a great start!
